The A-Z of me

ANORAK…Do you have a sad side?
Yes… my DVDs are in alphabetical order on the shelf and my books are categorised. I am in the process of scanning them into LibraryThing so I know what I have and stop buying duplicates!

BODY…What physical attribute would you most like to change?
This is a tough one, as I’ve finally reached a stage where I am happy with my body, myself and how I look and feel. However, given just one thing, I’d probably wish for naturally clearer skin.

CELEBRITY…Which one would you most like to date and why?
Russell Howard! I’d have to fight Chloe for him but he’s lovely :)

DEBUT …Tell us about your first ever blog post. What made you start blogging?
Ohhh, my first ever actual post was so long ago (2004) I don’t remember what I said. The blog is long-since defunct but was started as a way of recording the photos I’d taken. Moving through semi-journalistic (well, wannabe journalistic, anyway) rants and a diary of a breakup, I’ve now settled into myself and this blog is a reflection of all the facets of me.

ERROR …What’s been your biggest regret?
I try not to have regrets, life really is much too short. However, I do wish I’d spent more time with my godfather before he died.

FUNNY – who’s making you laugh?
Many people, I’m very lucky to have people in every part of my life who crack me up on a regular basis – my friends, my family and my colleagues.

GRAND…If we gave you one right now what would you spend it on?
Poppy’s insurance, a new camera and a netbook or tablet, some beautiful floozies and edible glitter.

HOLIDAY… What’s your favourite destination?
In the UK, Wells-next-the-sea is hard to beat – I try and go once a year with my uni girlies and I never fail to come back happy and refreshed. Outside of the UK, I’ve come home from the rally with a taste for exploring Europe, and I love Texas and Tennessee further afield. Also spent a lot of time in the Gulf in my teens and I’d love to go back and see how it’s changed out there, but I’m too much of a road trip kind of a girl to have one favourite destination.

IRRITATE… What’s your most annoying habit?
When I’m concentrating on something, I tune out of the world. It drives my colleagues *mental*. There’s no one around right now for me to ask about annoying habits, hehe – I’ll have to wait and see!

JOKER…Whats your favourite joke {the one that makes you laugh everytime you hear it}?
This changes on a weekly basis, but right now it’s “you know when you just can’t help yourself…?!” – yeah, not remotely funny unless you were there at the time *blush*

KENNEL… Do you have any pets?
Sadly not right now, I sponsor a greyhound named Milly at Clarks Farm Greyhound Rescue, and I pretend I part-own Harriet, my aunt & uncle’s dog. But although she loves me as much as I love her, we both know she’s not really mine!

LOVE…Are you single, married, engaged, living with a long term partner?
I am single and happily so. There may be a dalliance…

MEAL… Whats your ultimate starter, main and dessert?
Ohhh, food, one of my favourite things. I’m not a huge fan of starters, but for main it would have to be between curry and roast dinner, and chocolate cheesecake for dessert. Actually a honeycomb smash cheesecake wouldn’t go amiss!

NOW…If you could be anywhere right now where would you be and who with?
Further north-west than I currently am ;o)

OFF DUTY…What do you do in your spare time?
Millions of things! Drive, blog, craft, cook, read, start projects, call friends, see family, rollerskate, take photos… the list really is almost endless at the moment and I love it that way. Something will have to give eventually but right now I’m making the most of packing as much into my life as I can :)

PROUD MOMENTS …What are you most proud of?
Completing the rally, working at the Telegraph, sticking out my initial six months at my current job, and most of all how much I’ve developed during my twenties into a person I’m really excited and happy to be :)

QUEASY …What turns your stomach?
The things that doctors talk about over dinner :P And anyone going anywhere near my tummy button.

RELAX…How do you relax?
Going for a drive or reading are the most relaxing things I do. Sometimes I’ll chill out massively with a glass of wine and a good book in the bath – bliss!

SONG…Whats your favourite song of all time?
Ohh, that is impossible. I love so much music, and different songs echo my mood at different times.

TIME …If you could go back in time and relive it again, when would you choose?
I think it would have to be R2R – the 2011 banger rally across Europe, from Calais to Romania in nine amazing days with lots of fabulous like minded people. It was crazy and sometimes stressful, but unequivocally the best nine days of my entire life.
UNKNOWN…Tell us something about yourself that no one else knows?
Not many people know I once announced a new civil war in London on page 2 of the Daily Telegraph. It went to press. It was also mentioned in Private Eye not long afterwards. I honestly thought my life was over. (It was meant to say Lebanon. My life continued as normal after a massive bollocking, I carried on working for the Telegraph for a couple of years after that episode and it’s now just a small slice of legendary hilarity).

VOCAL…. Who is your favourite artist?
Right now Adele is hard to beat – she has the most incredible voice and her songs tug at your heartstrings. Also loving Stereo Hearts, such an awesome feelgood song.

WORK….. What is your dream job, and are you doing it now?
Oh, my hilariously varied career. I have worked as a graphic designer at the Telegraph, as a librarian and currently as a marketing assistant in the world of private client finance. No, I have no idea how those are linked either. I’ve loved every job I’ve had, even most of the in-between temp ones, but ultimately I’d like to work for myself running a vintage and handmade shop with workshops, classes and social events.

XRAY…Any broken bones?
None officially, although it’s probable (apparently) that my occasionally very painful toe in my right foot is from a long-ago broken bone, most probably caused by a horse stamping on it. This is such a likely scenario it made me giggle, I always got the stroppy horses in the field!

YIKES…What’s been your most embarrassing moment?
Erm. Probably the London/Lebanon fiasco, closely followed by the “but I like YOU” moment in second year of uni. If you were there you’ll know what I’m talking about, if you weren’t I’m not explaining!!

ZOO…. If you were an animal, which one would you be?
A bird, so I could soar and swoop on the wind.

You are definitely a complex and interesting person! I’ve noticed a ‘theme’ in some of your answers that you could perhaps think about in, say, a week or so? ;)

haha – I never knew about the civil war episode :-)

  3. Hi, interesting blog….and your life by the sounds of it!! But where are you from? UK?

    • Thank you! I’m still trying to write up the rest of that trip… real life’s got in the way! Yup, lovely rainy green England, but think I might be Texan at heart, lol… have bookmarked your blog and will be following your trip with interest :)
